Job summary

Athona Ltd is seeking a Band 8 Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join the Minor Injuries Unit in Newquay, Cornwall. The role offers a block booking until September/October with potential extension and a start date ASAP. You will work 08:00–20:00 across 7 days per week, assessing and treating walk-in patients with minor injuries and illnesses.

Salary is £35.00 per hour (Full Gross). The successful candidate will hold MSc Advanced Clinical Practice, be an Independent Prescriber (V300), and

Qualifications

• MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (or equivalent) is required.
• Independent Prescriber (V300) is required.
• Significant Urgent Care / Minor Injuries Unit experience required.
• Competent in assessing, diagnosing and treating minor injuries and illnesses.
• Able to independently manage emergency presentations.

Responsibilities

• Independently assess, diagnose and treat walk-in patients with minor injuries and illnesses.
• Respond confidently to emergency presentations, delivering safe, high-quality patient care.
• Contribute to the Minor Injuries Unit workflow alongside another experienced practitioner.

This is a fantastic opportunity to spend the summer working in one of the UK’s most beautiful coastal locations while making a real difference in urgent care.

Role Details

• Role: Band 8 Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP)
• Location: Newquay Minor Injuries Unit, Cornwall
• Start Date: ASAP
• Duration: Block booking until September/October, with the potential to extend
• Shift Pattern: 08:00–20:00
• Availability: 7 days per week
• Rate: £35.00 per hour (Full Gross)

Essential Requirements

• MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (or equivalent)
• Independent Prescriber (V300)
• Significant Urgent Care / Minor Injuries Unit experience
• Competent in assessing, diagnosing and treating minor injuries and illnesses
• Able to independently manage emergency presentations
• Current NMC or HCPC registration

The Role

Working alongside another experienced practitioner, you’ll independently assess, diagnose and treat walk‑in patients presenting with a range of minor injuries and illnesses. You’ll also be expected to respond confidently to emergency presentations, delivering safe, high‑quality patient care within the Minor Injuries Unit.
