Job summary

Athona Ltd is recruiting for a Band 6 Urgent Care Practitioner to join the Minor Injuries Unit in Newquay, Cornwall. Start date ASAP, block booking until September/October with potential extension. Shifts are 08:00–20:00, seven days a week, in a stunning coastal location.

Role involves supervising walk-in patients with minor injuries and illnesses, with emphasis on safe, effective urgent care and emergency management when needed. Competitive pay and ongoing support are provided for the placement.

Qualifications

• Urgent care experience required.
• Ability to assess and diagnose minor injuries and illnesses.
• NMC Registered Nurse required.
• Essential: Minor Injuries & Illness Management Module.
• Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Assess and treat walk-in patients presenting with minor injuries and illnesses.
• Provide safe and effective urgent care and manage emergencies when required.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in one of the UK’s most stunning coastal locations while enjoying a summer placement with ongoing work available.

Role Details

• Role: Band 6 Urgent Care Practitioner
• Location: Newquay Minor Injuries Unit, Cornwall
• Start Date: ASAP
• Duration: Block booking until September/October, with potential to extend
• Shift Pattern: 08:00–20:00
• Availability: 7 days per week
• Rate: £27.00 per hour (Full Gross)

Essential Requirements

• Minor Injuries & Illness Management Module
• Previous Urgent Care experience
• NMC Registered Nurse
• Confident assessing, diagnosing and treating minor injuries and illnesses
• Able to respond appropriately to emergency presentations

The Role

Working alongside another experienced practitioner, you’ll assess and treat walk‑in patients presenting with minor injuries and illnesses, while providing safe and effective urgent care. You should also be confident managing emergency situations when required.
