Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust [BCHC] are now seeking to recruit an experienced Capital Projects Manager [Construction]. BCHC operates across a wide portfolio of Healthcare Estates in the Midlands area and specialises in the management and development of health care property in the Community Healthcare sector.

Main duties of the job

BCHC are now seeking to recruit a Project Manager to join the team in Birmingham, in taking an important role in the project management of Capital and other projects. As part of this varied and challenging role, you will be professionally responsible for the complete Project Management from inception to completion of minor Capital & other Projects for Birmingham Community NHS Foundation Trust and other clients as required.

The preferred candidate will assist in space utilisation projects to reduce the Estate and maximise the utilisation. You will also be involved in mobilisations for new contracts along with assisting, where necessary, with Capital Programmes. Other duties encompass feasibility studies, design, programming, financial management of schemes, property inspections and the supervision and co-ordination of external consultants, contractors & site inspectors. The preferred candidate will communicate with, and provide expert professional advice to key stakeholders of the Trust in order to determine/advise on scheme briefs, budgets, timescales and logistics. You will also ensure that projects are procured to the appropriate professional, technical & quality standards as well as ensuring that all schemes maintain a patient focus. Job responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have excellent project management skills gained managing capital projects and minor capital works (NHS experience would be advantageous but by no means essential as candidates with experience gained in other public or commercial private sector environment will be considered). You will also be able to use AutoCAD or MICAD as well as good working knowledge of Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel, Access and Project. In addition, you will ideally hold a project management certification. It is desirable for the preferred candidate to be professionally qualified within a related discipline such as RICS, CIOB or be able to demonstrate equivalent Construction or Engineering experience. Qualifications / training
  • Qualified to BSc (Hons) Level in Architecture, Engineering, Building or Quantity Surveying Post Graduate or equivalent relevant experience
  • Knowledge of structured planning and sound resource management skills in the development of strategic plans. Construction management knowledge Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both
  • Qualification with relevant membership of Chartered Profession Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) or Chartered Institute of Builders (CIOB) or be working towards a professional membership
  • Significant experience in Project Management, with proven technical ability.
Experience
  • Significant experience in managing capital projects.
  • Significant experience of managing and being responsible for numerous professional design teams and directly employed contractors and sub-contractors.
  • Qualification with relevant membership of Chartered Profession Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) or Chartered Institute of Builders (CIOB) or be working towards a professional membership
