Job description
Position Summary

A Band 6 Audiologist/Clinical Scientist wishing to specialise in paediatrics through a developmental Band 6‑7 role. Where a suitable Band 7 candidate is not identified, the post may be offered as a development role with structured support, practical training and completion of a Master’s‑level education in paediatric audiology, progressing to Band 7 upon successful completion of agreed competencies. The role is ideal for candidates wishing to develop leadership skills, with responsibilities including quality assurance, supervision and service development.

Responsibilities
  • Provide paediatric audiology assessment and rehabilitation consultations across a variety of patient pathways, consistently meeting departmental and national standards.
  • Produce high‑quality, independent reports ensuring compliance with departmental and national standards.
  • Interpret complex audiologic or Evoked Response Audiometry test results and offer recommendations for patient management where care is beyond practitioner scope.
  • Deliver teaching and training on areas within scope of practice.
  • Support Service Leads in day‑to‑day organisation of the Audiology service in accordance with Trust and departmental protocols.
  • Support Advanced Audiologist/Clinical Scientists to ensure the Audiology Vertical Monitoring and Horizontal Audit (VMHA) programme is completed on schedule.
  • Assist the Audiology Quality Lead in maintaining UKAS accreditation.
  • Supervise and lead innovative projects within the team.
Qualifications & Experience
  • BAAT I and II or BSc Audiology Qualification.
  • Significant NHS experience.
  • HCPC or RCCP registration.
  • Experience in paediatric assessment and rehabilitation, preferably in a paediatric service.
  • Desire to develop other clinical interests such as tinnitus and vestibular service.
  • Ability to act as an autonomous practitioner within scope of practice, evaluate requests and carry out audiologic assessments.
