Job description

Band 7 Clinical Psychologist - Banes-Bath

Are you a qualified or soon-to-be qualified psychologist passionate about social justice? Are you interested in providing evidence-based psychological therapy to individuals who use alcohol and other drugs, and supporting teams to work in psychologically informed ways?

We are seeking a Band 7 qualified clinical or counselling psychologist to join our new partnership service.

AWP is excited to be part of a multi-agency partnership led by Turning Point, delivering community drug and alcohol treatment in Banes. This innovative remodeling of the service leverages the unique expertise of providers.

Our role within the partnership involves delivering psychological aspects of the treatment system, working clinically with patients, embedding psychologically informed practices into the wider workforce, and connecting the drug treatment service with community mental health colleagues to enhance care for individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use issues.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, qualified Practitioner Psychologist to join the BaNES Psychological Therapies Service (PTS), part of a developing integrated drug and alcohol treatment system. The team is friendly, composed of psychologists and therapists offering NICE-recommended therapies to individuals with significant mental health challenges. This partnership provides an opportunity to include specialist drug and alcohol practitioners in the team.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will support the psychological vision of the service, working collaboratively with the 8a Psychological Therapist, the wider team, and local mental health services. The role involves providing time-limited psychological interventions within a stepped-care model, focusing on developing various intensities of psychological therapy, psychosocial, and psychologically informed interventions to aid recovery. Core interventions include CBT, DBT skills, and motivational interviewing. Training and supervision to support psychologically informed interventions are essential. Experience or interest in trauma-focused therapies is advantageous, though not mandatory. The role also includes clinical supervision, training, CPD, reflective practice, and team formulation.

If you enjoy working with individuals facing substance use challenges and the complexities involved, and thrive in a dynamic, flexible, and caring environment, we would like to hear from you.
