A leading mental health organization in Birmingham seeks an enthusiastic nurse for the FCAMHS Inreach Service Pilot. The role involves managing a caseload, providing inreach support, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance care for young people with complex needs. Youth First - West Midlands Community FCAMHS provides advice, guidance, and consultation to professionals working with young people under 18 presenting with forensic risk and diagnosable mental health, neurodiversity, or learning disabilities (LD).
FCAMHS Inreach Service is a 12-month pilot funded by WMCPC, aimed at providing specialist in-reach support, consultation, guidance, and assessment to young people with a forensic profile experiencing long stays and barriers to discharge due to risk. This pilot specifically offers inreach to inpatient services across the West Midlands.
We seek an enthusiastic, compassionate, and innovative nurse to play a pivotal role within our FCAMHS Inreach Service Pilot. Working alongside a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist, you will jointly manage a defined caseload and provide intensive inreach support to inpatient units across the West Midlands. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in complex case management, inpatient services, and working with young people at forensic risk. Experience as a senior nurse within community CAMHS or inpatient CAMHS is essential, along with skills in collaborative work with multidisciplinary teams and multiagency networks. Effective conflict resolution skills and experience managing complex relational dynamics while maintaining professionalism are required.
Main duties include:
- Liaising with inpatient teams both virtually and in person, which involves travel across the West Midlands to assess and treat young people.
- Developing working relationships with key partners within the young person's care team, including community agencies.
- Collaborating with inpatient teams on assessment, treatment, therapeutic interventions, risk formulation, and management.
- Supporting reviews of restrictive practices and providing advice and guidance.
- Attending ward rounds, MDTs, and other multiagency meetings to support risk planning and reduction.
- Conducting clinical interviews with young people and their families to understand risk presentations and produce or contribute to risk assessments such as SAVRY.
- Being supported by the Consultant Psychiatrist and drawing expertise from the wider Youth First Team.
- Participating in weekly Youth First MDTs to review referrals for the FCAMHS Inreach Service Pilot.
