  • Work within diverse teams of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy Support Workers.
  • Rotations of approximately 6 months each.
  • Participate in seven day working programmes and adapt to various shift patterns.
  • Hold responsibility for own caseload and a defined service area with minimal supervision.
  • Receive supervision via regular training, clinical reasoning sessions, peer review and case conferences.
  • Access advice and support from senior physiotherapists; not all work is routinely evaluated.
  • Undertake all clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and maintain records.
  • Take part in site on-call respiratory physiotherapy out of hours after training and competence.
  • Supervise, educate and assess physiotherapy students to a graduate standard in collaboration with universities.

Job description

To provide Physiotherapeutic assessment, management and rehabilitation of patients in a variety of clinical areas at Good Hope Hospital. Working in a variety of teams that consists of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy Support Workers. The rotations will be approximately 6 months in duration.

Required to participate in the seven day working programmes across the organisation, and demonstrate flexibility to work in a variety of shift patterns.

To hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, case conferences. Access to advice and support from senior physiotherapists is available, clinical work is not routinely evaluated.

To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and maintain associated records.

To participate in the site on-call respiratory physiotherapy out of hours service once training has been provided and deemed competent.

To assist with supervision, education and assessment of the performance of physiotherapy students; this would be to a graduate standard and involve working with universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.
