We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, motivated individual who can demonstrate both a good level of communication plus organisational and clinical skills as is evidenced by previous paediatric emergency department experience.   • Assessment and triage
  • To take lead responsibility with the support of the Senior Nursing team to facilitate and develop the Paediatric Team's professional development needs to meet individual and organisational objectives.
  • To support the Senior Nursing Team in leading and co-ordinating the Emergency Department Paediatric Unit to ensure that timely and efficient assessment/treatment and discharge of patients whilst maintaining patient safety and delivering high quality care.
  • To support the Senior Nursing team in leading and co-ordinating the Paediatric Unit in the early assessment and implementation of safe discharge planning, utilising appropriate resources and referral systems.
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and deliver high quality, evidence-based care, including maintaining high standards of documentation, involving the children, young people and their families throughout the process.
  • Develop and strengthen the skills of the wider Emergency Department team to ensure effective communication/clinical skills are maintained by liaising with the, Multi-Disciplinary Team, other health professionals, patients and their families/carers, leading by example.,

Further information can be found on the additional information links at the bottom of the advert., Registered Nurse (Adult/Child/Mental Health) with current NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) registration.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development and upto-date portfolio.
  • Teaching, assessing, or mentorship qualification (e.g., ENB 998, Mentorship Module, Practice Assessor)., Significant post-registration experience within the relevant clinical specialty, Previous experience mentoring students or supervising junior staff
  • Experience of taking charge or leading a shift
  • Experience contributing to service improvement or change
  • Experience using audit or reporting tools
  • Experience of complaint resolution or patient liaison
  • Experience of rota management, staffing allocation, or redeployment
  • Experience of contributing to financial/resource awareness, Up-to-date knowledge of evidencebased practice and national guidance (e.g. NICE, NSF).
  • Understanding of clinical governance, audit, and risk management processes.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, infection prevention and control, and patient safety standards.
  • Advanced clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to coordinate safe admission, transfer, and discharge planning.
  • Strong leadership, team-building, and supervisory skills.
  • Effective communication skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
  • Competent in IT systems and electronic patient records., Knowledge of budgetary processes and workforce planning.
  • Knowledge of digital systems for patient flow, rostering, and incident reporting
  • Presentation and teaching skills for education sessions.
  • Skills in service evaluation and change implementation.
