Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust seeks an Overseas and Private Patient Manager to lead the Overseas and Private Patient Team, identify chargeable patients, and ensure accurate billing across Trust sites.
You will interpret overseas visitor regulations, advise colleagues, work with Credit Control to recover income, and deliver specialist training while maintaining empathetic patient conversations.
Are you a confident leader with specialist knowledge of overseas patient charging regulations? We are seeking an Overseas and Private Patient Manager to lead our team and ensure chargeable patients are identified, supported and billed accurately across our Trust sites. As the Trust's lead for overseas visitor legislation, you will interpret complex regulations and national guidance, make robust decisions on chargeable status and advise clinical and non-clinical colleagues. You will manage private patient arrangements, work closely with Credit Control to support timely income recovery, and ensure invoices, records and eligible EHIC claims are accurate and complete. You will manage, motivate and develop the Overseas and Private Patient Team, coordinate workloads, monitor performance and deliver specialist training across the organisation. The role involves sensitive conversations with patients and families, requiring empathy, professionalism and sound judgement. You will need management or supervisory experience, excellent communication and influencing skills, and be educated to degree level, or equivalent experience. Experience within an overseas or private patient team and using hospital administration systems would be advantageous. This is an office-based job due to the role being patient facing. It is expected that the successful candidate will spend most of their time either based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital or Birmingham Heartlands Hospital.
