Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 MRI Radiographer based at West Berkshire Community Hospital (WBCH) in Newbury, part of the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. WBCH is a Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) and forms part of our growing cross-site MRI service.

Due to the expansion of our MRI service, we have vacancies for enthusiastic Band 6 Diagnostic Radiographers with demonstrable post-registration MRI experience. Successful candidates will support our growing cross-site MRI service, with some Radiographers based at WBCH and others rotating between RBH and WBCH. Occasionally, all Radiographers will be required to rotate across all three sites, RBH, WBCH and Bracknell, to support service delivery and professional development.

The successful candidate must have demonstrable post-registration skills and experience in MRI imaging.

Main duties of the job

Some of the successful Radiographers will be based at WBCH (West Berkshire Community Hospital) and others rotating between RBH (Royal Berkshire Hospital) and WBCH. Occasionally, all Radiographers will be required to rotate across all three sites–RBH, WBCH and Bracknell–to support service delivery and professional development.

You must be adaptable and be prepared to work evenings and weekends as part of seven-day service delivery.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential as is the ability to work effectively, both autonomously and within a team environment.Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced Diagnostic Radiographers who satisfy the essential criteria of the person specification. Candidates must be registered with the HCPC.

Job responsibilities
  • To provide a high standard of MRI imaging and ensure delivery of safe, compassionate and timelypatient care.

  • The post holder must be willing to work across sites, and to take part in the provision of seven dayservice delivery
  • To deputise for Band 7 radiographers as required.
  • The post holder is expected to have a broad knowledge of pathology and physiology relevant to MRIimaging.
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent in Diagnostic Radiography State registration: HCPC
  • Evidence of significant continuous professional development (CPD)
Experience
  • Minimum of 18 months recent, proven experience post registration
  • Experience of working as an integral part of a successful team
  • Experience of communicating with multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience in supervising student radiographers, newly qualified and newly appointed staff
  • Broad knowledge of pathology and physiology relevant to cross sectional imaging
