Job summary

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in London is seeking an experienced Band 7 MRI Radiographer to join Wembley Community Diagnostic Centre. You will lead the MR service, perform general and complex MR exams and support a multidisciplinary team.

The role offers opportunities for service development, teaching, and professional development within a state-of-the-art MRI suite as part of a supportive NHS environment.

Qualifications

  • MR experience at band 6 level or above
  • Knowledge of routine and complex MRI techniques
  • Understanding of clinical governance in patient care
  • Experience as Band 7 MR Radiographer in the NHS (desirable)
  • Experience training staff and students in MR

Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of general and complex MR examinations
  • Assist/ deputise for MR Lead radiographer to manage day-to-day MR department operations

We are seeking an exceptionalBand 7 MRI Radiographer to join our expanding team at the Wembley Community Diagnostic Centre, delivering a high-quality MRI service to a growing outpatient population. You will work alongside and support a multidisciplinary team of Band 6 Radiographers, Imaging Assistants, Nursing team and Administrative staff.

Working closely with the Superintendent Radiographer and MRI Modality Lead, you will play a key role in organising and delivering the daily service. We will rely on your clinical expertise, leadership and organisational skills to support service development and maintain outstanding patient care.

The MRI service at Wembley CDC is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and forms part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust's wider imaging network. This provides exciting opportunities to develop specialist expertise, contribute to service improvement and support the training and development of colleagues.

Main duties of the job
  • To perform a range of general and complex MR examinations.
  • To assist and deputise for the MR Lead radiographer to manage the day to day running of the MR department.
  • To providence professional leadership and training of the MR team and provide a high quality patient focused service.
  • To provide a courteous approach to patients and staff.
  • To develop and improve professional expertise via continuous professional development.
  • To clinically justify MR requests and plan work load by prioritising requests in accordance with clinical urgency.
  • To assess the quality of images and assist junior staff when required.
  • To maintain a safe working environment by the safe use of equipment and accessories and reporting any faults through the appropriate channels.

Person specification
Education / Qualifications
  • BSc (Hons) in Radiography or equivalent.
  • College of Radiographer accredited IV cannulation course or equivalent.
  • HCPC Registration.
  • Post graduate qualification or evidence of formal study in MR.
  • Student Clinical Assessors qualification or course.
  • Ability to perform IM injections and give rectal contrast.
Experience
  • MR experience at band 6 level or above.
  • Evidences an up to date knowledge of routine and complex MRI techniques, including contrast studies.
  • A knowledge of recent developments within the profession.
  • An understanding of the clinical governance issues in relation to patient care.
  • Previous experience as Band 7 MR Radiographer in the NHS. .
  • Experience of training staff and students in MR.
Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities
  • Evidence of a commitment to continuous personal development in MR.
  • Ability to teach and mentor students, more junior staff and new members of staff.
  • Experience of audits or service improvement projects
