We are looking for enthusiastic clinical pharmacists who can work as part of a team and are flexible regarding working practices.
You will be a highly motivated individual with good communication skills and a desire to use your knowledge, skills and experience to improve patient care and influence healthcare professionals in the best use of medicines.
The successful candidate will deliver a quality ward-based clinical pharmacy service with support and guidance from our friendly team. You will undertake 3-month rotations through a variety of core clinical specialties to develop the foundation clinical skills and knowledge required to build a career within the NHS and progress to band 7. You will also work as part of a wider MDT providing an extended service to the Acute Medicine Team.
UHB is one of the largest NHS Trusts in the country. We have posts available at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, QE and Good Hope Hospital. The post holder will also have the opportunity to undertake a rotation at Solihull Hospital. You will be encouraged to undertake a clinical diploma or equivalent RPS Foundation pathway and subsequently a non-medical prescribing qualification. You will also be supported by formal induction training and dedicated time for education and training.
We welcome applications from qualified pharmacists in all sectors wanting to begin a career in hospital pharmacy and will support the training of pharmacists with limited hospital experience.
Using our advanced electronic patient record and prescription tool PICs, you will work alongside our technical team to review medicines reconciliations, optimise patients' medications and verify discharge prescriptions.
You will provide an extended service to the Acute Medical Unit as part of a larger clinical team to support medicines reconciliation at the point of admission, ensuring excellent care to patients admitted to UHB.
You will work as the Responsible Pharmacist in our main dispensaries supporting the workflow as well as clinically screening clinic charts from a wide variety of specialties. Candidates based at Good Hope Hospital and Heartlands Hospital (as part of the rotation to Solihull) will have an opportunity to screen outpatient prescriptions from a large variety of clinical specialties.
This post holder will work weekends and bank holidays as per rotas, as well as a late-night service in our dispensaries and providing on-call services with support from a more experienced pharmacist.
