Job summary

Athona Nursing is recruiting a Band 5 Scrub Theatre Practitioner to join the Theatre Department at an Essex NHS Hospital. This block booking offers a mixture of shifts in a hospital theatre environment with immediate availability subject to compliance.

Current HCPC registration or NMC registration is required, along with scrub theatre experience and strong aseptic technique. You will work with surgeons, anaesthetists, ODPs and the wider team to maintain patient safety and care throughout the

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality patient care throughout the perioperative journey.
• Scrub for surgical procedures and support the surgical team during operations.
• Prepare and check surgical instruments, equipment and sterile supplies.
• Maintain aseptic techniques and ensure infection prevention and control standards.
• Assist with patient positioning and maintain patient safety.
• Work collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, ODPs and the multidisciplinary team.
• Ensure surgical counts and documentation are completed per hospital policies.

Pay Rate (PAYE): £15.46 basic per hour, plus holiday pay

Essential Requirements

• Current HCPC registration as an Operating Department Practitioner or NMC registration as a Registered Nurse, as appropriate to the candidate’s professional role.
• Relevant scrub theatre experience.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques and infection prevention and control.
• Flexibility to work a mixture of shifts.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and patient care skills.
