Job description

A vacancy has arisen for experienced technicians to apply for this post which will be based at Queen's Hospital in Romford.

Duties will include:

  • Participation in a ward based pharmacy service, assisting the clinical pharmacist by undertaking clinical duties e.g. PODS, drug history taking, medicines reconciliation, discharge counselling etc in line with the recent NPSA guidance.
  • To help develop, monitor and audit the clinical technician input on wards
  • To carry out regular, planned Controlled Drug checks on the wards according to guidelines and agreed procedures
  • To work as an Accredited Checking Technician in the dispensary, supervising technicians and assistants in the absence of the senior dispensary staff.
  • Provide technical support and supervision to the dispensaries, and ward-based, clinical services.
  • Provide training to junior staff and supervise pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy assistants, in the absence of the Pharmacy Technician Specialists and Team Managers.

You must be a qualified Pharmacy Technician, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

You must be able to demonstrate good organisational and problem solving skills and you must also have accreditation for dispensary checking and ward-based, clinical activities.
