Job summary

West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is offering a two-yearPre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician apprenticeship at Watford General Hospital and St Albans City Hospital. The role involves a rotational training programme with one study day per week and four work-based learning days, spanning both sites.

On completion, you will gain a BTEC Level 3 Diploma and register as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC.

Qualifications

• 4 GCSEs including maths, English and science grade C or above (4 or above).
• Must not hold a Level 3 qualification or above in the same training subject.
• Not already in formal government funded education.
• Studied to AS or A level standard / NVQ or BTEC level 2 in a GPhC recognised qualification e.g. Pharmacy Services.

Responsibilities

• Develop knowledge, skills and show competencies in medication dispensing and checking.
• Medication storage and destruction.
• Medication distribution.
• Drug history taking.
• Medicines reconciliation.
• Medication counselling.
• Adhere to current legal, professional and ethical standards.
