Job summary

West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust invites applications for a Band 4 Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (Apprenticeship) in Watford. This two-year fixed-term/secondment programme offers one study day per week and four days of work-based learning across Watford General Hospital and St Albans City Hospital.

You will complete a BTEC Level 3 Diploma and become eligible to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC after training.

Qualifications

• Four GCSEs including maths, English and science grade C or above (4 or above).
• Must not hold a Level 3 qualification or above in the same training subject.
• Not already in formal government funded education.
• Studied to AS or A level standard / undertaken further education NVQ or BTEC level 2 in a GPhC recognised qualification e.g. Pharmacy Services.

Responsibilities

• Dispense and check medications.
• Medication storage and destruction.
• Medication distribution.
• Drug history taking.
• Medicines reconciliation.
• Medication counselling.
• Adhere to the requirements of current legal, professional and ethically standards.
