Job summary

FCC Environment is seeking a Baler Operative in Hartlepool to safely operate baling equipment used for recycling materials. You will bale to specification while upholding health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.

The role is full-time with an average 40-hour week on a rotating 12-hour shift pattern (days and nights). Company offers training, progression, pension, and holiday benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience operating machinery in an industrial, manufacturing, recycling or waste environment.
• Solid understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts and adapt to days/nights.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe working environment and follow health and safety procedures.
• Operate waste and recycling balers safely and efficiently.
• Process recyclable materials (cardboard, paper, plastics, metals).
• Monitor baler performance; respond to blockages and alarms.
• Ensure bales meet required weight, size and quality standards.
• Wire, strap and eject bales per site procedures.
• Carry out routine cleaning and housekeeping of baler and area.
• Perform daily inspections and safety checks.
• Report equipment defects promptly.
• Assist with sorting and segregation when required.
