Job summary

Leeds Building Society is seeking a Balance Sheet Scenarios Manager to deliver robust balance sheet, P&L and capital forecasts across business and regulatory scenarios. You will interpret complex model outputs, develop assumptions and turn results into clear commercial insight for senior colleagues.

You'll help improve planning, reporting and data capabilities and support the team as new tools and AI become part of how we work. Hybrid working – 2 days in the office.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in financial services and balance sheet modelling.
• Experience with scenario testing and ICAAP/IFRS9.
• Ability to explain technical outputs clearly to senior and non-finance audiences.
• Strong analytical, data and reconciliation skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Translate macroeconomic, commercial and behavioural assumptions into balance sheet, P&L, and capital scenarios.
• Prepare forecast assumptions and support modelling through QRM, including ICAAP, RRP, IFRS 9, and forward stress testing.
• Compare scenario outcomes with the base position and explain key drivers.
• Produce clear written analysis highlighting risks, opportunities and management actions.
• Support and improve reporting, controls and planning across Excel, Power Query, Power BI and the data platform.
• Share knowledge, coach colleagues and deputise for the Balance Sheet Scenarios Lead when needed.

How you'll make a difference

You'll help deliver robust balance sheet, profit and loss, and capital forecasts across business and regulatory scenarios. You'll interpret complex model outputs, develop assumptions and turn the results into clear commercial insight—helping senior colleagues understand performance drivers, risks, opportunities and the actions we could take. Alongside high-quality forecasting and analysis, you'll help improve our planning, reporting and data capabilities and support the team as new tools, automation and AI become part of how we work.

You'll

• Translate macroeconomic, commercial and behavioural assumptions into robust balance sheet, profit and loss, and capital scenarios.


• Prepare forecast assumptions and support modelling through QRM, including ICAAP, RRP, IFRS 9, Corporate Plan sensitivities and forward stress testing.


• Compare scenario outcomes with the appropriate base position and explain the key financial and commercial drivers.


• Produce clear written analysis that highlights risks, opportunities and areas for management focus.


• Support and improve reporting, controls and planning capabilities across Excel, Power Query, Power BI and our modern data platform.


• Share your knowledge, coach colleagues and deputise for the Balance Sheet Scenarios Lead when needed.

What will you bring to the role?

• Significant experience in financial services and a strong understanding of how a building society's balance sheet works.


• Extensive financial modelling experience, including scenario modelling, stress testing and sensitivity analysis.


• The ability to challenge assumptions and explain technical outputs clearly to senior and non-finance audiences.


• Strong analytical, data and reconciliation skills, with close attention to detail and a well-developed control mindset.


• Confident stakeholder management, business partnering and communication skills.


• A professional accountancy qualification or equivalent.
