Job summary

Bayne’s the Family Bakers seeks a Bakery Training Specialist to design onboarding and role-specific training across our Bakery departments, embedding a consistent learning approach. You will work with Managers and SMEs to deliver practical training and develop materials, assessments and digital content.

The role focuses on coordinating onboarding, compliance and refresher training, with opportunities to grow the L&D function and influence learning culture within the Bakery operation.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in manufacturing, production, FMCG or similar operational environment.
• Experience supporting, coordinating, or delivering workplace training and development.
• Ability to translate operational processes into clear, practical learning materials.
• Experience with SOPs and adherence to standards.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement onboarding and role-specific training across Bakery departments.
• Create learning pathways with practical training, knowledge checks, observations and competency sign-off.
• Coordinate onboarding, compliance and refresher training.
• Develop engaging training materials, guides and digital content aligned with standards.
• Provide guidance and resources to managers to enable effective workplace training.
• Monitor training activity and maintain accurate training records.

Bakery Training Specialist

People & Development Department

Based at Orwell Bakery, Lochore

39 hours per week – Salary circa £33,500 subject to experience.

Working Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 430pm, although some early, twilights and weekend workign may required.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Bakery Training Specialist to join our Learning & Development team, playing a key role in developing and embedding a structured and consistent approach to training across our Bakery operation.

This role will focus on designing and implementing onboarding and role-specific training programmes, supporting managers with the effective delivery of workplace training and ensuring colleagues have the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed in their roles.

As our approach to learning within the Bakery develops, this role offers the opportunity to grow and broaden its contribution to colleague and management development.

To be considered for this role, you should have previous experience within manufacturing, production, FMCG or a similar operational environment, alongside experience supporting, coordinating or delivering workplace training.

What your key responsibilities are as Bakery Training Specialist:

• Design, develop and implement structured onboarding and role-specific training programmes across our Bakery departments.
• Create clear learning pathways incorporating practical training, knowledge checks, observations and competency sign-off.
• Work in partnership with Bakery Managers, Supervisors and subject matter experts to identify training requirements and develop practical learning solutions.
• Develop engaging training materials, guides, assessments and digital learning content aligned with operational standards and procedures.
• Coordinate onboarding, mandatory, compliance and refresher training across the Bakery.
• Provide managers and supervisors with the guidance, resources and practical support needed to implement effective workplace training.
• Identify barriers to training progress and work with managers to develop appropriate solutions.
• Monitor training activity, completion and competency, maintaining accurate training records and providing regular progress updates.
• Carry out quality checks and observations to ensure training is delivered consistently and effectively.
• Facilitate or support learning sessions where appropriate, working alongside subject matter experts.
• Support training requirements associated with new equipment, systems, processes and operational changes.
• Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across Bakery Operations, Technical, Health & Safety and the wider business.
• Promote continuous improvement and a positive learning culture, with opportunities to contribute to wider Learning & Development initiatives as the role evolves.

Key skills and experiences required of our Bakery Training Specialist:

• Previous experience within manufacturing, production, FMCG or a similar operational environment.
• Experience supporting, coordinating or delivering workplace training and development.
• Ability to understand operational processes and translate them into clear, practical and engaging learning.
• Experience working with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and operational standards.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to build effective working relationships and positively influence others.
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• A proactive and adaptable approach, with the confidence to take ownership, create structure and drive improvements.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Confident using digital systems and learning platforms.
• Passionate about learning, people development and supporting others to succeed.
• Previous experience within bakery or food manufacturing would be advantageous.
• Experience developing structured onboarding programmes, training materials or competency assessments would be advantageous.
• A relevant Learning & Development, training or assessor qualification would be advantageous.
