Job summary

Comptoir Gourmand Ltd in London is seeking an experienced Bakery School Teacher or Assistant to run workshops at Maltby Bakery and other sites. You will guide students, prep classes, maintain a warm learning space and support instructors.

Roles involve teaching or assisting, ensuring safety and packaging outputs, and helping with events. Weekend and evening sessions are common, with base fees of £125 per workshop (teacher) or £75 per workshop (assistant).

Qualifications

• Previous bakery/kitchen experience required.
• Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 or willingness to obtain.
• Interest in artisan bread and French patisserie.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients, equipment and workstations before each class.
• Teach or assist workshops and demonstrations.
• Welcome guests and ensure they enjoy an outstanding learning experience.
• Support students during practical sessions with guidance.
• Maintain cleanliness and food safety throughout the Bakery School.
• As a teacher, you will teach at a professional level but adapt your lessons to the student level.
• Wash, sanitise and store equipment between classes.
• Package students' baked goods for them to take home.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering ingredients and consumables.
• Help set up and clear down classes efficiently.
• Assist with bakery school events, corporate workshops and private bookings.
• Support photography and social media content during classes when required.
• Provide excellent customer service both in person and via email or telephone.
• Work closely with the bakery, café and management teams to ensure smooth daily operations.
