Job summary

Allied Bakeries, part of Associated British Foods plc, is seeking a skilled Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer for our Walthamstow bakery. You’ll work across day and night shifts maintaining plant equipment, responding to breakdowns and driving reliability improvements.

The role requires hands-on maintenance, problem-solving, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement in a fast-paced bakery environment.

Qualifications

Strong communication and teamwork skills
Proven experience in training and coaching others
Enthusiastic, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement
Able to adapt to changing business requirements
Time-served multi skilled apprenticeship, supported by relevant experience
C&G 2346-03 Electro-technical Experienced Worker qualification
HNC in Electrical, Automation, or Multi-Skilled Engineering

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair automation, electrical, and mechanical faults during breakdowns
Deliver proactive and reactive maintenance to minimise downtime
Support and implement the site engineering strategy
Lead and deliver continuous improvement projects on time and within budget
Contribute to improved site performance through KPIs such as OEE and CCOs
Maintain and promote high standards of health and safety
Provide training, coaching, and technical support to operators and fellow engineers
Support wider site activities as required to ensure operational success
