Job summary

Geary’s Bakeries Ltd. seeks a Maintenance Manager to lead engineering at our fast-paced production site in Leicestershire.

You will manage engineers, capital expenditure, and plant reliability, delivering a robust maintenance programme and driving continuous improvement. The role requires strong leadership, experience in FMCG manufacturing, and a proactive approach to health & safety, budgeting, and KPI reporting.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a similar role within FMCG manufacturing (ideally food).
• Engineering degree or equivalent experience (Min L3).
• Knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems, PLC, HMI, robots and drives is essential.

Responsibilities

• Deliver an effective maintenance programme in collaboration with Operations, Hygiene, Technical and Engineering teams.
• Lead and develop the Engineering Management team to stay audit ready and manage contractor permits, blade logs and hand back forms.
• Utilise the CMMS for maintenance planning, including PPM schedules, work requests and work orders.
• Ensure sufficient spare parts and embedded replacement processes.
• Review plant maintenance to identify continuous improvement opportunities and optimize pre-planned maintenance.
• Report leading and lagging KPIs to weekly engineering meetings.
• Manage third party planning—service contracts, compliance visits, annual servicing.
• Deliver site budget and contribute to yearly budget planning.
• Support and develop the engineering team to land capital projects on time and to budget.
• Train and develop the team to ensure effective maintenance delivery.
