Job summary

First Call Contract Services Limited is seeking a baggage operative at Stansted Airport to assist with transportation, loading and unloading of passenger baggage. Shifts follow a 4 on 4 off rota (02:30–14:30) with a pay rate of £13.81 per hour, starting October 2026.

Duties include unloading/loading baggage, adhering to safety policies, and operating within H&S guidelines. Training will be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Able to follow safety rules and directions.
• Capable of counting and performing simple math.
• Able to read, understand and follow directions.
• Able to operate mechanical handling equipment.
• Able to lift 10–20 kg and move loads as required.

Responsibilities

• Unload and load passenger baggage from carts into lifts for arrivals area.
• Adhere to health & safety policies and site rules.
• Load and unload materials from trucks or containers.
• Follow company policies and maintain accuracy in tasks.
• Participate in training provided to develop the role.

The role of a baggage operative is to help with the transportation and loading/unloading of passenger baggage in and around the current baggage facility.

Shift

• 4 ON 4 OFF 0230-1430

Pay Rate

• 13.81£/ h

Start Date

OCTOBER 2026

Duties

• – The unloading and loading of passenger baggage from cart/vessels into lifts to be delivered to the baggage arrivals area for passenger collection, bags can weigh anything from 10-20kg.
• – To ensure company health & safety policies are adhered to
• – Load and unload materials from trucks or containers
• – Adhere to company and site policies, culture and value
• – To work within the established standards of accuracy
• To undertake and implement any training provided by the company in relation to the development of the role, individual or operation

Skills

• – Ability to follow work & safety rules
• – Ability to read, understand and follow directions/instructions
• – Ability to count accurately and to perform simple math calculations
• – Have appropriate hand, eye and foot co-ordination to effectively use mechanical handling equipment
• – Ability to move product which may require bending, stretching, stooping, stepping, reaching and /or lifting, in line with H&S regulations

Other

• – Ability and flexibility to work shifts
• – Ability to provide a full 5 year history and DBS check
• – Ability to work with a rapidly changing environment
