Job summary

The Old Vic is seeking a Backstage Duty Manager to lead the Backstage Operations team during service and events, ensuring guest comfort and safety. You will run EPOS tills, manage staff rosters, and coordinate with chefs and security to deliver smooth performances.

The role requires proven supervisory experience, excellent communication, and the ability to work flexibly across evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays, in line with performance schedules.

Qualifications

• Proven experience of working as a Duty Manager or Supervisor in a comparable space or venue.
• Ability to lead a team on the ground and coordinate staff during service.
• Outstanding customer service with a calm, proactive approach.
• IT literacy with experience of EPOS systems and MS Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong numeracy.

Responsibilities

• Manage Backstage Operations and staff for designated service and events.
• Operate EPOS/till, process transactions, and resolve system issues.
• Create daily briefings and coordinate bookings and space.
• Ensure safety, fire evacuations, and adherence to H&S policies.
• Produce End of Night Reports and handover to management.
