Job summary

FanDuel Group in Edinburgh is seeking a Software Engineer to join empowered, multidisciplinary teams. You will design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable backend services in Java, delivering high-quality code on schedule and collaborating with teammates.

You will work with databases, messaging queues, and cloud infrastructure (AWS), participate in code reviews, and help evolve architectures while focusing on customer needs.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related software engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of relevant work experience.
• Experience and passion for writing highly scalable, fault tolerant and available backend systems & APIs using Java.
• Good grasp on relational and non-relational databases, messaging queues and handling concurrency.
• Understanding of modern architectures, design patterns, and platform nuances.
• Knowledge of release process best practices for APIs and services within production systems.
• Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and technologies, preferably AWS.
• Experience with testing concepts, test tools, and integrating testing in the SDLC.
• Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
• Familiarity working in an Agile environment.

• Design software components that are simple, reusable, and maintainable.

• Troubleshoot and resolve defects; provide excellent customer support.
