Job summary

FanDuel is hiring a Software Engineer for Core Marketing Platforms in Edinburgh. You will build and optimize high-performance microservices powering FanDuel's marketing ecosystem, enabling real-time customer communications, personalized promotions, and targeted campaign delivery.

You will work in a modern microservices and event-driven architecture, focusing on scalable systems and data-driven experiences for millions of customers.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or related software engineering field, or equivalent practical experience. 2+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong backend experience with Java
  • Understanding of AWS as well as DevOps concepts such as IaC (we use Terraform)
  • Some experience with event streaming technologies such as SNS/SQS or Kafka.
  • Good grasp on relational, non-relational databases, messaging queues and handling concurrency.
  • Understanding of modern architectures, design patterns, and platform nuances
  • Appreciation of orchestration and containerisation, ideally Kubernetes (K8s)
  • Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure and technologies.
  • Experience with testing concepts, test tools, and integrating testing and best practices in the SDLC
  • Familiarity working in an Agile environment
  • Passion for working within a fast-paced environment and can adapt to change

Responsibilities

THE POSITION

Our roster has an opening with your name on it We're looking for aSoftware Engineerto join one of our Core Marketing Platforms teams, whereyou'llbuild andoptimizehigh-performance microservices that power FanDuel's marketing ecosystem.You'llwork on systems enabling critical capabilities such as real-time customer communications, personalized promotions, and targeted campaign delivery. Your work will focus on designing highly scalable, event-driven systems that process large volumes of real-time data, delivering intelligent insights to marketing partners.You'llhelp enable data-driven, personalized experiences for millions of customers across our platform.

You'llwork within a modern microservices and event-driven architecture, buildingMartechsolutions enhanced by AI to drive customer engagement and retention.

  • Make existing systems simpler (e.g.byconsolidatingredundant systems,deletingunnecessary code, or removing/updating out of date documentation).
  • Solvewell-definedproblems independently, knowing when to seek input or guidance from the wider team
  • Translate technicaldesignsinto clean, well—tested code usingappropriate technologiesand current software engineering best practices, delivered on schedule.
  • Write secure, stable, testable, maintainable code with minimal defects
  • Contribute to team discussion on technical design,scopingandprioritisation.
  • Collaborate effectively across the team, surfacing risks and opportunities that arise from technical decisions.
  • Propose pragmatic solutionsand share knowledge and learnings with the wider team.

  • Youparticipatein the on-call support rotation for your organization.
