Job summary

Modo Energy is hiring backend Python engineers to join one of our product teams. You will own production systems from day one, building APIs, data pipelines, and AWS infrastructure. Work across the stack, from feature shipping to infra improvements, with autonomy and a fast-moving team.

We seek engineers who learn fast, move between layers, and contribute to AI-powered analytics. This hybrid role offers ownership, growth, and the chance to scale a category-defining platform in the energy markets.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Python backend development with end-to-end ownership, from design to deployment.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and infrastructure as code (Terraform).
• Proficiency with Django, FastAPI, or comparable async Python frameworks.
• Experience building data pipelines and relational databases (PostgreSQL).
• Expert-level use of AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services and APIs powering a live product.
• Design and operate data pipelines for energy market data at scale.
• Own AWS infrastructure and deployment end-to-end from local to production.
• Build monitoring, observability, and alerting for reliability.
• Balance shipping new features with platform health and performance.
• Design internal tools and tooling to improve team velocity.
• Collaborate with energy analysts and data scientists to ensure correctness.
• Contribute to LLM-powered AI Analyst infrastructure as needed.
