Job summary

IBM Consulting UK FutureNow is seeking a Backend Java Developer to design and deliver high-quality applications using Java/JEE and modern web technologies. You will build new features, integrate systems, and apply best-practice engineering principles to ensure secure, reliable backend solutions.

Work with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and data access layers.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Java/JEE development and Spring-based backends.
• Experience with JSP/Servlets and data access via JPA/Hibernate.
• Strong understanding of DI/Ioc, AOP and TDD.
• Experience delivering secure, scalable backend services in teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend apps using Java/JEE.
• Build components and services with Java frameworks.
• Apply enterprise patterns: DI, IoC, AOP, FP, TDD.
• Develop secure, efficient data access and transaction management.
• Support integration with enterprise systems.
• Contribute to DevOps pipelines, automated testing, and version control.
• Troubleshoot to ensure performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with analysts, testers, architects, and other developers.
• Depending on experience, assume technical leadership or ownership.
