Job summary

IBM Consulting UK FutureNow is seeking a Backend Java Developer to design and deliver high-quality backend applications using Java/JEE and modern web technologies. You will build features, integrate systems, and apply best-practice engineering principles such as DI, TDD, and CI/CD.

In this role you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including analysts, testers, architects, and fellow developers. Depending on experience, you may take technical leadership or own specific areas of the

Qualifications

• Experience with Java/JEE and Spring in enterprise apps.
• Understanding of DI/IoC/AOP, TDD and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with data access layers (JPA/Hibernate).
• Familiarity with batch processing and API integration.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend apps using Java/JEE and frameworks.
• Build backend components and services using Java-based tech.
• Apply enterprise patterns like DI, IoC, AOP, functional programming, and TDD.
• Develop secure data access and transactional operations.
• Support integration with enterprise systems and services.
• Contribute to DevOps with CI/CD, automated testing, and version control.
• Troubleshoot performance and reliability issues.
• Collaborate with analysts, testers, architects, and developers.
• Offer technical leadership or ownership based on experience.
