Job summary

Teton is seeking a strong backend engineer to scale the core infrastructure powering its platform. You will work with real-time data from thousands of edge devices across care facilities, building APIs and backend services that power critical alerts and workflows for healthcare staff.

Ideal candidates will have experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and cloud deployment. This role offers a stake in a meritocratic, fast-paced team with tangible healthcare impact.

Qualifications

• Experience building and operating large-scale backend or distributed systems.
• Designing reliable real-time data pipelines.
• Working with event-driven architectures and asynchronous systems.
• Scaling APIs and services handling high-throughput workloads.
• Operating production infrastructure with strong reliability requirements.
• Database design and performance optimization.
• Cloud infrastructure and deployment tooling.
• Debugging complex production issues under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Scale the core infrastructure powering Teton’s platform.
• Ingest and process real-time data from thousands of edge devices.
• Develop APIs and backend services to support care teams.
• Manage databases and storage systems for high availability.
• Maintain MQTT infrastructure and edge communication.
• Improve reliability, observability, and system performance.
• Oversee cloud deployment architecture and tooling.
