Backend Engineer (GoLang & Python)

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join one of our high-performing product squads delivering cutting-edge financial systems for a global reinsurer. You'll play a key role in designing and delivering scalable data platforms and services using Go and Python in a modern cloud-native environment.

This isn't just a coding role, we're looking for someone with a product mindset who can lead by example, pair with actuaries and analysts, and help shape the technical vision and delivery.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading engineering efforts as the most senior Back End developer on the squad
• Collaborating with actuaries and stakeholders to deliver Python-based financial models
• Building high-performance APIs and background services in Go
• Designing robust data pipelines and platforms on Azure (Databricks, Synapse)
• Working closely with Product Owners to translate requirements into scalable tech solutions

Must-Have Skills

• Go (GoLang) - 3 years building APIs and background services

• Python - 3 years, especially around data transformation & ETL

• Experience with data platforms (Databricks, Azure Synapse)

• Azure - At least 1 year building in Azure environments

• Proven technical leadership in cross-functional squads

• Understanding of financial systems or data

Nice-to-Haves

• Reinsurance or wider finance industry experience
• Familiarity with actuarial models or collaboration with actuaries
• Experience with highly regulated data environments
