Job summary

Abnormal AI is seeking a Software Engineer to help scale our platform, blending backend systems work with AI-powered features. You will own features end-to-end, collaborate with senior engineers to improve reliability and reduce latency, and contribute to AI-driven components and agentic workflows.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of industry experience as a Software Engineer.
• Solid backend proficiency in Python and production systems.
• Experience with system design fundamentals and building reliable, scalable apps.
• Working knowledge of relational databases and modern data storage.
• Exposure to service-to-service communication (gRPC, Kafka) and Redis caching is a plus.
• Experience with AWS services (S3, RDS) and deployment practices.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm.
• Understanding of service health, monitoring, and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and iterate on scalable backend and ML systems, APIs, frameworks, and internal tools.
• Take ownership of well-scoped features with guidance on complex work.
• Contribute to reliability and operational excellence of critical systems.
• Write clean, testable code with attention to edge cases and performance.
• Contribute to design documents and participate in reviews.
• Participate in code and design reviews and on-call rotations.
• Help design and build AI-powered features and agentic workflows as part of the platform.
