Job summary

Ascendion is seeking a Senior Engineering Lead for the Azure Cloud Data Platform in Cardiff. Hybrid role: one day per week in the office.

You will steer the Nucleus product team's cloud architecture, guide the self-service data portal, and drive scalable, serverless solutions in Azure while mentoring staff and aligning with business goals. You will work hands-on with Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Event Grid, and messaging services, ensuring robust data pipelines, real-time streaming, and

Qualifications

• Established experience in cloud architecture and analytics platforms.
• Proficiency with the Azure cloud platform and Azure DevOps.
• Hands-on with Azure serverless components (Functions, Logic Apps, Event Grid).
• Experience with Azure messaging and integration services (Service Bus, Event Hubs, API Management).
• Familiarity with Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and other Azure databases.
• Strong DevOps knowledge, IaC patterns and networking basics.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management to influence senior leaders.
• Experience designing data pipelines and real-time streaming solutions.
• Experience integrating AI into products/platforms is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic guidance and technical leadership to the Nucleus product team.
• Support and evolve a self-service portal for practitioners.
• Design and implement cloud-native solutions focusing on serverless architectures and scalable infrastructure.
• Offer hands-on cloud architecture support while guiding strategy.
• Leverage Azure and DevOps expertise to drive innovation and operational excellence.
