Job summary

Ofgem is modernising its technology estate and expanding use of Microsoft Azure as a strategic platform. This is a highly influential role balancing technical excellence with organisational objectives, shaping Azure architecture across DDSS.

You will lead design and assurance of Azure-based solutions, define standards, promote governance, and mentor architects and engineers while engaging with senior stakeholders to drive secure, scalable and cost-effective cloud services.

Qualifications

• Strong background in design and delivery of Microsoft Azure solutions.
• Experience with Azure security frameworks, compliance standards, and identity management practices.
• Ability to define and apply governance models for Azure cloud adoption and optimisation.
• Ability to provide technical direction, collaboration, and support for multi-disciplinary IT teams and architects.
• Proficiency in architectural modelling tools such as Archi and frameworks such as ArchiMate, UML, or equivalent, with the ability to create and maintain architectural artefacts.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of secure, scalable and cost-effective solutions on Microsoft Azure.
• Provide architectural assurance and oversight across Azure projects and programmes.
• Define and promote architecture standards, patterns and best practices.
• Support Azure governance, compliance and cloud adoption frameworks.
• Work with delivery teams to integrate Azure services across enterprise and hybrid environments.
• Apply enterprise architecture frameworks to support consistent design and governance.
• Identify technical risks and ensuring appropriate mitigations are implemented.
• Create reusable architecture patterns, standards and documentation.
• Influence architectural decision-making and contribute to governance forums.
• Mentor technical architects and engineers, helping build Azure capability across DDSS.
