Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Manchester, UK, is seeking a Security Engineer II for AWS Security Incident Response. You will monitor networks, triage security alerts, and coordinate incident response using AWS tools at scale.

The role requires a solid grounding in security concepts, programming/scripting in languages like Python/Java, and experience with threat hunting, incident handling, and on-call rotations; UK security clearance is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS and TCP/IP.
• Experience in scripting, programming, and security code reviewing in a common programming language.
• 3+ years of programming in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++ or similar OO language.
• 3+ years of troubleshooting and log analysis using command line tools.
• Experience with AWS services or other cloud offerings.
• Security certifications (GCIH, GSEC, CISSP, CISA, CISM) or equivalent.
• Experience triaging security alerts and frontline analysis.

Responsibilities

• Respond to threat findings indicating unauthorized activity.
• Identify, evaluate, and communicate security threats and remediation.
• Contribute to security automation and posture improvements.
• Track and report effectiveness of detective controls like GuardDuty.
• On-call support including weekends.
