Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a skilled Platform Engineer to build, test, package, deploy and operate cloud platforms on AWS. You will automate infrastructure, package services into AMIs or containers, and create IaC with Terraform. You will work in an agile environment, administer Kubernetes, and apply security guardrails across services.

The role emphasizes platform engineering concepts, production readiness, and collaboration within a shared tooling ecosystem to deliver robust cloud solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience building AWS resources using Terraform or other IaC, competent in Python for Lambda development.
• Understands the Shared Responsibility model, the key challenges when using AWS and its benefits vs on prem.
• Build, deploy and operate containers (ideally Docker).
• Appreciation of AWS/cloud shared security model, can create Security Guardrails (SCP, Config, etc.).
• Knowledge of platform engineering concepts and the difference between platform and DevOps.
• Understands the challenges of operating services in a production environment.
• Experience with AWS security services.

Responsibilities

• Building, testing, packaging, deploying and operating cloud platforms alongside shared platform tooling within AWS environments
• Automating the build of infrastructure resources within AWS
• Packaging services into AMIs, Docker containers or Serverless deployments
• Creating IaC using Terraform
• Delivering platform improvements and new tools
• Building AWS resources using infrastructure as code using Terraform (or CloudFormation) and Packer
• Delivering within an agile environment
• Kubernetes administration
