Job summary

UBDS Group is seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Architect to provide technical leadership and own cloud architecture within an agile digital delivery team. The role focuses on shaping secure, scalable, maintainable AWS-based solutions, collaborating with engineers, delivery teams and business stakeholders.

You will design solutions using AWS services, drive cloud-native patterns, and guide teams through architectural decisions while emphasising security and resilience.

Qualifications

• Significant AWS cloud architecture experience.
• Proven experience as a Senior Cloud Architect or similar.
• Strong software engineering background across Python, JavaScript and SQL/PostgreSQL.
• Strong experience with APIs, integrations and cloud-native architectures.
• Knowledge of GitHub, CI/CD and Docker.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, resilience and scalability.
• Experience providing technical leadership within agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Desirable experience with infrastructure as code and automated provisioning.
• Familiarity with serverless, event-driven and/or microservices architectures.
• Automated testing and quality engineering experience.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled solutions or AI integrations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and own cloud and solution architecture across the delivery.
• Design solutions using AWS services and cloud-native patterns.
• Provide technical leadership, direction and guidance to engineering teams.
• Translate business and user requirements into pragmatic technical solutions.
• Make and communicate key architectural decisions and technical trade-offs.
• Design across applications, APIs, integrations, data and infrastructure.
• Ensure solutions consider security, scalability, resilience, testing and operability.
• Support CI/CD, containerisation and modern DevOps practices.
• Engage effectively with senior technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Remain actively involved throughout agile delivery.
