Job summary

Sompo International seeks an AVP and Senior Underwriter for Terrorism & Political Violence in its London Underwriting team. The role requires technical underwriting knowledge, market presence, and geopolitical insight to navigate global risks.

Based in London, you will manage renewals and new business, interact with Lloyd’s and brokers, and contribute to risk analytics and portfolio reporting. A strong track record in crisis management underwrites this opportunity.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years with Crisis Management products: Terrorism, Political Violence, Active Adversary.
• Experience underwriting international clients.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills with team-oriented approach.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Numerate and detail-oriented.
• Strong time management.
• Strong administration and file-keeping skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Execute on strategy for Crisis Management; renewals and new business within parameters.
• Underwrite accounts per guidelines and authority.
• Prepare frontsheets and UW rationales for peer reviews.
• Conduct data analysis and assist portfolio reviews.
• Engage with brokers; represent Sompo at meetings and industry events.
• Collaborate with exposure management tools and analytics teams.
• Mentor junior members and support ad-hoc projects.
