Job summary

Applied Intuition is seeking a Systems Engineer to join the UK Engineering team. You will define system requirements, design architectures, and integrate Applied Intuition technology onto autonomous vehicles and defence systems.

You’ll work across field and office environments, collaborating with software engineers, autonomy teams, data scientists and operators to ensure robust deployment. The role emphasizes hands‑on fieldwork, software deployment, and rigorous testing in dynamic settings, with

Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Robotic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Optimization, or equivalent OR 5 years of relevant experience designing multi‑agent autonomy
  • Strong proficiency in Linux and command‑line tools
  • Strong proficiency in Python and/or C++
  • Hands‑on experience with robotic systems, sensors (Radar, cameras, lidar) and vehicle autopilots (PX4, ROS)
  • Knowledge of inter‑vehicle communication protocols (DDS, ROS 2)
  • Experience in integrating third‑party software and APIs
  • Experience with standards such as PYRAMID, FACE, ARP 4754A, DO-178C
  • Systems architecting and requirements writing
  • Ability to work in field environments and deploy systems in challenging conditions

Responsibilities

  • Define system requirements from user needs on operational concepts
  • Define system and system‑of‑systems architectures and align with open standards
  • Design and build reference architectures for autonomy, mission and weapon systems
  • Lead development of system engineering models and artifacts
  • Develop, deploy, and validate software on autonomous vehicles focusing on robotics, sensors and autopilots
  • Hands‑on fieldwork deploying software on vehicles in dynamic environments
  • Collaborate with Perception and Autonomy teams to deploy perception pipelines and vehicle autonomy software
  • Address inter‑vehicle communication for seamless data exchange
  • Use simulation environments to test vehicle systems before field deployment
  • Document processes and provide updates on system status and improvements
