Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Autonomous Advanced Nurse Practitioner to operate within the Surgical Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit. You will assess, diagnose, and manage patients, ordering investigations as needed and guiding the team through the patient journey.

The role is based in Chelmsford, Band 8a, full-time, fixed-term 9 months (maternity cover), with a salary of £55,690 per annum pro rata for part-time. Closing date 27/10/2026 23:59.

Qualifications

• Must have completed Advanced Nurse Practitioner qualification.
• Consultation and Assessment Module Level 7.
• Leadership and Management Course.

Responsibilities

• Be primarily based in the Surgical SDEC unit as part of the surgical workforce and provide autonomous assessment and management of patients.
• Order relevant investigations to aid diagnosis and review results, offering information and advice to patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team.
• Use clinical knowledge to independently assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate treatments for surgical patients in various settings.
