Job summary

Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust seeks a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the acute SLT team on a fixed-term maternity cover. The role focuses on specialist assessment and management of adults with dysphagia and communication disorders across inpatient and outpatient settings at Queen Alexandra Hospital.

You will work within a supportive MDT, deliver evidence-based treatments, supervise junior staff, and contribute to service development while maintaining high-quality,

Qualifications

• Holds a recognised Speech and Language Therapy qualification.
• Registered with HCPC and RCSLT.
• Accredited post-graduate dysphagia qualification (Level C) or equivalent.
• Experience with adults with dysphagia and communication disorders.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist assessment and management of adults with dysphagia and communication difficulties.
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to clinical decisions.
• Support safe oral intake recommendations and communication strategies.
• Deliver training and advice to patients, families and healthcare staff.
• Contribute to service development, audits and quality initiatives.
