Job summary

Placr Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of an established independent surveying practice looking for an experienced Residential Surveyor to join its professional team in East Sussex. This role offers genuine autonomy, highly flexible hybrid/remote working and a varied workload.

The core duties include RICS Level 2 and Level 3 Home Surveys, defect diagnosis and broader surveying work with opportunities in Contract Administration, Party Wall matters and residential refurbishment projects.

Qualifications

• Experience carrying out residential property surveys.
• Experience with RICS Level 2 and/or Level 3 Home Surveys.
• Strong knowledge of residential construction and common building defects.
• Confidence inspecting properties and diagnosing defects independently.
• Strong written report-writing skills.
• Excellent client-facing and communication skills.
• Ability to manage your own diary and workload.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Undertake Level 2 Home Surveys and Level 3 Building Surveys.
• Inspect houses and flats and produce reports.
• Identify and diagnose residential building defects.
• Investigate damp, structural movement, roofing defects, timber problems and general building fabric deterioration.
• Provide practical recommendations for repairs and remedial works.
• Prepare Specifications and Schedules of Work.
• Support Contract Administration on residential projects.
• Project manage residential refurbishments and extensions.
• Carrying out site inspections and monitoring works through to completion.
• Manage contractors, variations and project progress.
• Undertake Schedules of Condition.
• Support Party Wall matters including Notices and Awards.
• Act as Building Owner's/Agreed Surveyor where appropriate.
• Undertake residential valuations and reinstatement cost assessments.
• Support Principal Designer/CDM responsibilities where relevant.
