Job summary

HD Surveyors is seeking an Experienced Building Surveyor for a hybrid role basing in Eastbourne, East Sussex, with work across East Sussex and London.

You will independently progress contract administration and project management instructions on refurbishment, repair and maintenance projects, including condition surveys, site inspections and producing technical reports. A Building Surveying degree is essential, MRICS/AssocRICS welcomed but not required, and flexible hybrid working is offered.

Qualifications

• Building Surveying degree or equivalent
• AssocRICS or MRICS welcomed but not essential
• Practical contract administration experience
• Project management experience across refurbishment, repair or maintenance works
• Experience undertaking condition surveys and detailed building inspections
• Developed building pathology and defect diagnosis capability
• Experience preparing specifications and technical reports
• Ability to progress inspections and routine instructions independently
• Experience communicating directly with clients, contractors and consultants
• Sound judgement when assessing technical issues, remedial options and project risk

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for building surveying instructions from initial assessment through delivery and completion
• Administer building contracts across refurbishment, repair and maintenance works
• Manage project programmes and coordinate delivery requirements
• Undertake condition surveys across residential, education and commercial assets
• Inspect buildings and diagnose defects
• Provide clients with technically appropriate remedial recommendations
• Prepare specifications and supporting documentation for planned works
• Produce clear technical reports following inspections
• Coordinate contractors and external consultants during live projects
• Maintain direct communication with clients throughout instructions
• Monitor project delivery, quality and contractual requirements
• Attend sites independently across East Sussex and London
• Manage technical and delivery risks arising during project instructions
• Progress routine commissions with limited day-to-day supervision
