As an Automotive Technician you'll be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles to ensure they operate safely and efficiently. This role combines technical expertise, problem‑solving, and customer service, supporting the smooth running of a workshop and delivering high‑quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Vehicle Diagnostics: Identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults using diagnostic equipment and technical manuals.
- Repairs & Maintenance: Carry out repairs on engines, transmissions, suspension, brakes, steering, exhaust systems, and electrical components. Perform routine servicing in line with manufacturer schedules.
- Technical Documentation: Complete job cards, repair logs, and service reports accurately. Follow manufacturer repair times and workshop processes.
- Customer Interaction: Explain technical issues and repair requirements to customers in a clear, professional manner when needed.
- Parts & Equipment Handling: Identify required parts, ensure correct fitment, and maintain workshop tools and equipment.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Follow all UK workplace safety regulations, including proper use of PPE, safe handling of hazardous materials, and adherence to workshop risk assessments.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as an automotive technician or mechanic within a UK workshop.
- Strong understanding of modern vehicle systems, including diagnostics and electrical fault‑finding.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and manufacturer instructions.
- Competence with diagnostic tools such as OBD scanners and manufacturer‑specific systems.
- Full UK driving licence.
- NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent).
- Experience with German manufactured vehicles (e.g., Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Volkswagen). Experience with all other brands such as Seat, Skoda, BMW & Porsche is also appreciated.

Salary & Benefits (Typical UK Range)
- £38,000+ per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and manufacturer training.
