Job summary

Apex Resource Management Ltd is seeking a proactive Supplier Development Engineer to join a specialist automotive manufacturing environment in Daventry on a 6-month fixed-term contract. You will engage with suppliers, drive performance improvement and support new supplier introductions.

The role requires a strong understanding of supplier development methodologies, PPAP/APQP, and experience with 8D, FMEA, Control Plans and data analysis in Excel.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in supplier development within automotive manufacturing.
• Experience with PPAP and APQP methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of supplier audits, capability reviews and performance management.
• Proficient in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Willingness to travel in the UK and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of supplier development strategies to improve capability and quality.
• Lead supplier development activities and drive improvement across the supply base.
• Manage supplier concerns and performance issues for current and new programmes.
• Carry out supplier audits, site assessments and capability reviews.
• Prepare supplier action plans, SDEs and CCARs with reports.
• Develop and implement supplier improvement initiatives with internal stakeholders.
• Support new supplier onboarding and new component introduction.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement and Material Control for project delivery.
• Ensure supplier visits are documented and actions tracked to completion.
• Investigate supplier-related production issues and implement corrective actions.
• Use CI and quality tools including 8D, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC.
• Support PPAP and APQP activities across the supply base.
• Review supplier manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality and delivery.
• Manage manual performance data in Excel and use Scanlogic and 3DX.
