Job summary

Apex Resource Management is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer in the Daventry area on a 6 month fixed-term contract. The role focuses on supplier engagement, performance improvement and issue resolution across a complex supply chain in an automotive environment.

You will drive continuous improvement, supplier capability, and robust manufacturing/quality processes while supporting new supplier and component introduction projects.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in supplier development within an automotive manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience in supplier assessments, supplier audits and performance management.
• Knowledge of PPAP and APQP methodologies.
• Proficiency with quality tools (8D, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC).
• Experience using Excel for data analysis, reporting and performance tracking.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of supplier development strategies to improve capability, performance and quality.
• Lead supplier development activities and drive continuous improvement across the supply base.
• Manage supplier concerns, performance issues and resolution activities for current production and new programmes.
• Carry out supplier audits, site assessments and capability reviews.
• Prepare supplier action plans, SDEs, CCARs and regular performance reports.
• Develop and implement supplier improvement initiatives with internal stakeholders.
• Support onboarding of new suppliers and new component introduction activities.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement and Material Control to ensure project delivery.
• Document supplier visits and track actions to completion.
• Investigate supplier-related production issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Utilise 8D, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC and Value Stream Mapping.
