Job summary

Akkar is seeking a Quality Engineer to join its West Midlands engineering team. You will support NPI, APQP/PPAP, and customer/supplier quality activities, interfacing with design, manufacturing and procurement to drive robust processes.

You should have 3+ years in automotive or precision engineering, strong IATF 16949 knowledge, and experience with core tools (APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP). The role emphasizes practical problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Quality Engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of IATF 16949.
• Experience with APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC and PPAP.
• Good understanding of GD&T and technical drawings.
• Experience with customer and supplier quality.
• Practical problem-solving and containment experience.
• Experience with quality audits.
• Engineering or technical qualification.
• Knowledge of Control Plans, ISIR and 8D.
• Experience with IMDS, inspection methods, castings, forgings, or machined components is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support NPI and project quality activities.
• Apply APQP and PPAP across new and existing projects.
• Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to understand product requirements.
• Manage customer quality issues, concessions, returns and warranty claims.
• Support suppliers with quality issues and corrective actions.
• Carry out internal, process and product audits.
• Maintain quality documentation and support external audits.
• Use structured problem-solving methods such as 8D.
• Support continuous improvement and waste reduction.
• Represent the business in customer and supplier meetings.
