Job summary

Wigan & Leigh College is seeking an Automotive Engineering Trainer Assessor to work with apprentices and employers across Vehicle Maintenance and Automotive Engineering. You will assess practical competence, provide clear technical feedback and help learners develop the skills, knowledge and professional behaviours needed to succeed.

You will spend much of your time in real workplace environments, observing practical activity and reviewing evidence with employers to create meaningful

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Automotive Engineering or Vehicle Maintenance.
• Significant automotive industry experience.
• Current knowledge of hybrid and electric vehicle technology.
• Experience supporting apprentices, trainees or colleagues to develop their skills.
• Assessor qualification, or willingness to work towards one.
• Past assessment/apprenticeship involvement would be useful.

Responsibilities

• Assess Automotive Engineering and Vehicle Maintenance apprentices in the workplace.
• Observe practical activity and make evidence-based assessment decisions.
• Review portfolios and assess underpinning knowledge through questioning and discussion.
• Coach apprentices and provide feedback to aid improvement.
• Collaborate with employers to create suitable workplace assessment opportunities.
• Maintain accurate assessment and e-portfolio records.
• Contribute assessment information to apprentice progress reviews.
• Support apprentices to achieve timely completion and Gateway.
• Participate in standardisation and quality assurance activities.
