Job summary

The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in the UK is seeking a Senior Advisor (Automation Transformation) to guide industrial clients through their automation journeys, delivering measurable business value and transformational projects.

You will lead workshops, assess readiness, develop automation strategies, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across MTC's manufacturing sectors, including SMEs to global manufacturers.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of automation and robotics technologies and their industrial applications.
• Experience in manufacturing environments in roles such as Manufacturing Engineer, Manufacturing Manager, Director, MD or Consultant.
• Expertise in manufacturing improvement techniques including Lean, Value Stream Mapping and Process Mapping.
• Knowledge of operational efficiency improvement methods, facility layout and production flow optimisation.
• Experience of leadership, change management and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong commercial awareness and customer-facing experience.
• Minimum of 10 years' industry experience.
• Degree-level background in an engineering discipline or equivalent industrial experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex client-facing transformation and automation projects.
• Facilitate discovery workshops to identify business, operational and technology improvement opportunities.
• Assess manufacturing readiness for automation using structured methodologies and assessment tools.
• Develop automation and robotics strategies, roadmaps and implementation plans.
• Identify suitable technologies and solutions to address client challenges.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams across MTC technology groups.
• Oversee the delivery and technical governance of project outcomes.
• Support the development of pilot automation systems and proof-of-concept projects.
• Build trusted relationships with customers, technology partners and key stakeholders.
