Job summary

Jagex in Cambridge seeks an Automation Engineer to design, build and maintain automation platforms and shared testing tooling across the Delivery Engineering team. You’ll enable development and testing at every stage, from local environments to CI pipelines, helping teams work faster and more reliably.

The role offers predominantly remote work with onsite attendance as needed. You’ll collaborate with engineers to implement modern automation practices, report on quality KPIs, and shape tooling

Qualifications

• Experience designing automation platforms and tooling in modern software environments.
• Strong programming skills in C#, Java, Python, Go or TypeScript.
• Experience building automated testing frameworks (functional, API, UI, performance).
• Knowledge of CI/CD, IaC (Terraform/Ansible) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Build and scale automation capabilities within a centralised Delivery Engineering team.
• Deliver automated development and test harness capabilities across the SDLC.
• Embed with engineers to build white/black box testing frameworks across areas.
• Improve automation frameworks and introduce modern tooling and practices.
• Champion automation practices within engineering teams.
• Understand codebases and services to ensure automation fits how they work.
• Provide reporting and visualisation of software quality and KPIs.
